  • Water mainsOxford

Damp in a corridor, and three circuits to rule out

Damp on a corridor floor with nothing visible above it. Pressure testing each circuit separately put the fault on the cold feed, and acoustic listening put it under the bathroom tiles.

A supplier leak notice and a failed stopcock

A leak notice from the supplier, wet walls in the garage, and an internal stopcock that would not shut the water off. Tracer gas and acoustic listening agreed on the same corner.

Why we are called Same Day.

  • One property per engineer, per day

There is no second appointment to move on to, so an investigation that needs six hours is given six hours.

  • What the name does not mean

It is not an offer to attend on the day you call. Engineer days are booked in advance. Where one is unbooked, or an earlier job finishes early, same-day attendance is possible.

  • Nothing is opened up on an assumption

Thermal imaging, acoustic microphones and tracer gas read through tile, screed and concrete. Any opening is small and in a single location.

  • Repaired on the visit where the job allows

Our engineers are plumbing and heating engineers as well as leak specialists. Supply and heating repairs are normally completed and pressure tested during the visit.

What happens on the day of the visit.

  1. The call

    Describe the problem

Describe what you have seen: a damp patch, a pressure drop, a higher bill. We establish which equipment the job needs, find the nearest available engineer, and confirm a date and a price.

  2. Your day

    One engineer, one job

Each engineer is assigned one property per day. There is no second appointment to move on to, so the investigation runs for as long as the job requires.

  3. On site

    Testing and elimination

Thermal imaging, acoustic microphones, tracer gas, correlation and moisture mapping. No single method is relied on alone. The search continues until two or three agree on the same point.

  4. Before we leave

    Located, repaired and written up

You receive the exact location, photographs and a report written for an insurer. Where the repair is straightforward, our plumbing and heating engineers complete it on the visit and pressure test it.

  • Excellent Leak Detection and Repair

We had a major water leak of approximately 220 litres per hour and, with a holiday booked only a few days later, we urgently needed someone to find and repair it. […] Frank arrived at our house. He was extremely polite, professional and clearly very experienced. He quickly set up the equipment, carried out a tracer gas test and pinpointed the leak to an area just outside our garage underneath the driveway. […] The whole job, from arriving at our house to finding and repairing a 220 litre-per-hour leak, was completed in around three hours.

  • Fast, effective leak diagnosis and repair

Fundamentally, the engineer (Mark Pavitt) identified the source of the leak, repaired it and had our house back up and running within the same day. As part of achieving this, he kept the damage to a minimum (only having to cut out sections of the kitchen plasterboard ceiling). He cleaned up the debris, was polite, cheerful and informative of root cause and actions throughout the day. I think the key to success is having an engineer that has expertise in both leak detection and plumbing.

  • Very professional and swift service

Very professional and swift service. Frank arrived and had detected and repaired the leak within 3 hours. Would highly recommend

Leak detection questions we get asked most.

Every question

If you are called Same Day, can you come out today?

Occasionally. Engineers are assigned one property per day and those days are booked in advance. Where one is unbooked, or an earlier job finishes early, same-day attendance is possible. You will be given the earliest date genuinely available.

So what does Same Day mean?

It refers to the visit. One engineer spends the full day on your property, and across every job ADI has attended the leak is located on that day in about ninety-nine of a hundred. Where the repair is straightforward it is completed before the engineer leaves.

What if the leak is an emergency?

Say so at the start of the call. Water that cannot be isolated is prioritised as far as availability allows, and you will be told what can be arranged and when.

How long does the visit take?

A full day is allowed for every pipework investigation. Some leaks are located within the hour. The remainder are the ones that need the time, and that time is already reserved.

Will you have to dig up my floor?

In most cases, no. Thermal imaging, acoustic listening and tracer gas locate the leak through tile, screed and concrete. Where the pipe has to be reached, the opening is small and in a single location.
